Council elections
As previously announced, all Council positions — President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Officer, and four ordinary Council positions — are up for the renewal.
The election was called on 27 November 2023 by email, sent to all past and present WINIR members. Nominations (including self-nominations) were due by 18 January 2024. The list of eligible voters was defined as paid-up members on that date.
We are pleased to report that the election generated a lot of interest: 12 nominations from candidates spanning 4 continents were received.
The following nominations were received for the four Officer positions:
Richard Langlois (University of Connecticut, USA) – standing for President
David Gindis (University of Warwick, UK) – standing for Secretary
Francesca Gagliardi (University of Hertfordshire, UK) – standing for Treasurer
Lyndal Keeton (University of Witwatersrand, South Africa) – standing for Publicity Officer
Richard, David, Francesca, and Lyndal are accordingly elected to these positions unopposed.
The following nominations were received for the remaining four Council positions:
Daniel Cole (Indiana University, USA)
Zehra Kavame Eroglu (Deakin University, Australia)
Robbert Maseland (Radboud University, Netherlands)

Paolo Silvestri (University of Catania, Italy)
Nikhilesh Sinha (Hult International Business School, UK)

The remaining Council positions will accordingly be filled using the weighted voting system outlined in Art 7.6 of the Constitution.
The ballot will open on 1 February. It will close and results will be announced on 15 February. The new WINIR Council will be inaugurated on 1 March 2024.
