WINIR @ STOREP 2024
WINIR Session on
Institutions, Inequalities & Liberties
Università degli Studi di Milano, Milan, Italy
27-29 June 2024
Organizer: Paolo Silvestri (University of Catania, Italy)
WINIR is pleased to sponsor a session on “Institutions, Inequalities & Liberties” at the 21st Annual Conference of the Italian Association for the History of Political Economy (Associazione Italiana per la Storia dell’Economia Politica, STOREP), to be held at the University of Milan, Milan, Italy, on 27-29 June 2024.
The conference aims to foster a debate on inequalities, where they come from, where they are going, and how they can be reduced. To devise new and effective policy approaches, the roles of the state and policy-making institutions need to be rethought from a multidisciplinary perspective.
WINIR members are welcome to send paper proposals to discuss the relationship between institutions and inequality, but also potential socio-ethical-institutional conflicts, such as:
-
- ‘institutions of equality’ versus ‘institutions of liberty’;
- redistribution of wealth and/or welfare policies versus private property and/or contractual freedom;
- dimensions of inequalities versus dimensions of liberties.
Contributions from different disciplinary perspectives – historical, economic, legal, philosophical, and political – that are in line with WINIR’s aims and research priorities are welcome.
Submissions – which should include an abstract (400 words max.), keywords, and affiliation – should be sent to Paolo Silvestri (paolo.silvestri@unict.it) by 10 April 2024.
