WINIR 2025 - Venue
The Tenth WINIR Conference will be held in Prague, the capital of Czechia, has a history spanning over a thousand years. Founded in the 9th century around Prague Castle, it became a major European centre under Charles IV in the 14th century. He established Charles University in 1348 and commissioned landmarks like the Charles Bridge and St. Vitus Cathedral, making Prague the capital of the Holy Roman Empire.
Through the centuries, Prague has witnessed dramatic events, from the Hussite Wars to the infamous Defenestration of Prague, which sparked the Thirty Years’ War. Under Habsburg rule, the city embraced Baroque splendour, adding elegant palaces and churches to its already rich architectural landscape. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Prague became the centre of Czech nationalism, leading to the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918. It survived Nazi occupation and decades of communist rule.
The Velvet Revolution in 1989 restored democracy, and in 1993, Prague became the capital of the newly formed Czechia. Today, the city blends its rich medieval and Baroque heritage with a vibrant modern identity, remaining a cultural and political hub of Central Europe.
We are pleased to hold this year’s conference at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE). Founded in 1953, VŠE is the largest public university in the field of economics and business in the Czechia. The conference is hosted by the Faculty of Business Administration which shares with WINIR a commitment to openness to new ideas and approaches to the study of diverse institutions. The university is easily accessible, located in the center of the city.
