The WINIR Conference on Institutional Innovation & Evolution will feature keynotes by Eric Beinhocker (University of Oxford, UK), Geoffrey M. Hodgson (Loughborough University London, UK) and David Sloan Wilson (Binghampton University, USA).
The Eighth WINIR Conference will be held in Catania, the second largest city of the beautiful Mediterranean island of Sicily, off the coast of Southern Italy. Among other things, Catania, which lies at the foot of the volcano Etna facing the Ioanian Sea, is known for its baroque architecture, for which it is part of the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Fourth WINIR Symposium took place in Stratford, a metropolitan district in the North-East London Borough of Newham (UK), mostly famous for its spectacular Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which was built to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
The Third WINIR Symposium was held in Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa. Also known as Egoli (which means “place of gold” in Zulu), Johannesburg started as a mining town in 19th century when the discovery of gold on a farm triggered a gold rush.
The WINIR Symposium on Property Rights took place in Bristol, one the UK’s most unique cities located in South West England. Situated on the rivers Frome and Avon, Bristol borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire, with the historic cities of Bath and Gloucester to the southeast and northeast, respectively. The city has a short coastline on the Severn Estuary (which flows into the Bristol Channel).
The First WINIR Symposium was held in Lugano, the largest town in Ticino, the southernmost canton of the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Surrounded by the mountains of the Southern Alps, the town lies in a bay on the northern side of the beautiful Lake Lugano.
